At a Major Telecommunications Firm -- The Client Benefits Management Group had a problem managing 350-450 medical, vision, and dental plans for their 900,000 participants.  The plans' provisions needed to be accessed by a number of regional offices and the existing database was easily corruptible causing severe inconsistencies.  Additionally, the administration of the database and the in-house security procedures were extremely cumbersome.  PSG assembled a team consisting of a benefits specialist, a business analyst/project manager, and a .NET technologist for the project.  After a complete assessment of the operational procedures within the HR Healthcare Benefits Department, the team restructured the database and redesigned the application to make it web-based.  All operational issues were addressed by this new design.  The team is now in Phase 3 of the project, and is expanding the application reach to include outside carriers and 3^rd part providers.  The initial project's success inspired the client to expand the scope of the project to include a collaborative element allowing outside carriers and 3^rd party providers access to the system.
